After years of playing solo acoustic shows, at the end of 2005 Joel Michalak created Therapy Session® in the attempt to stop being pegged as a folk singer/songwriter. He got on board with the breaking new website at the time, "Myspace" and created a band page. He started recording demo's in his bedroom trying to capture an idea of the sound he wanted for the band. He busked on the streets of Hollywood and handed out demos trying to find the right members to join the band.
