Sunset the Machine are a heavy metal and space rock trio that emerged in 2022 after Jesse Lewis, the longtime frontman and lead vocalist of ZJ's, left the band. ZJ's, a "roadhouse rock 'n' roll" band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2018, consisted of Ryan Weber (guitar, backing vocals), Andrew Rieder (drums), and Luke Miller (bass). Sunset the Machine formed from the evolution of ZJ's, with Weber taking on the role of frontman and lead vocalist, while Rieder and Miller retained their positions in the band's lineup.
