Peter Gutteridge (born in Dunedin on 19 May 1961; died 15 September 2014) was a New Zealand musician credited with pioneering the "Dunedin sound" with The Clean in 1978 and The Chills in 1980. He subsequently helped form The Great Unwashed in 1983 and Snapper in 1986. His song "Gentle Hour" (first released by Snapper in 1993) was covered by Yo La Tengo. Gutteridge released one solo album, Pure, on Xpressway Records in 1989.
