Modern Primate is the solo work of Patrick Olstad. Harboring ambivalent feelings for technology, Modern Primate takes a low-tech approach to digital sound composition. All compositions are recorded, edited, and mixed on minidisc recorders/players and a mixer. Using household sounds, field recordings, samples, and organ tones, Modern Primate creates loop-based soundscapes that are often somber and atmospheric.
