Jan Hammer (born 17 April 1948) is a Czech-American musician, composer, and record producer. He became known in the early 1970s as the keyboardist of the jazz fusion group Mahavishnu Orchestra and later gained wider recognition for composing music for film and television, including "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme" for the television series "Miami Vice". Over the course of his career, he has worked as a performer, composer, and producer in jazz, rock, fusion, and soundtrack music.
