Groinchurn was formed in the Vaal Triangle in 1993 by Christo Bester, Mark Chapman and Sergio Christina. Until the band disbanded in 2001, they made many recordings, including three full-length albums, Sixtimesnine (1997), Fink (1998) and Whoami (2000) on the international label Morbid Records. After Sixtimesnine, they toured Europe with Czech Republic's Krabathor and German band Sanity's Dawn, and after Whoami, they toured Europe with Total Fucking Destruction. Christo Bester later formed Insek.
