Frieda is a band that formed in New York in the mid-80s. Frieda is actually the doll on the cover of the album, a creation of the New York video and performance artists Barbara Lipp and Tom Koken. The record label dropped their only release after they found out that Frieda was a disco diva doll and not a real person. That release in 1987, Disco Lover / Plastic Rap, released on Varla Records with little other output besides public appearances and festivals such as Wigstock in the 1984 and 1998.
