ELIKEH (pronounced "ey-LEE-kay") signifies something that is rooted, whether in the soil or in tradition. The ELIKEH crew is a collective of like-minded, roots musicians based in the Washington, DC area. Led by singer/songwriter Serge "Massama" Dogo, ELIKEH performs mostly original material drawn from Massama's roots in Togo, and mixes in some old-school reggae and afrobeat. This is a unique fusion of traditional rhythms with choice elements from afrobeat, soukous, reggae, and jazz.
