Carl Carlton (May 21, 1953 - December 14, 2025) was a Detroit-based singer-songwriter. In 1968, he released his first debut single "Competion Ain't Nothin'" as "Little Carl Carlton". By 1971, he had dumped the "Little" and began performing as just "Carl Carlton". Over the next several decades, he released eight studio albums and over a dozen singles. On December 14, 2025, Carl Carlton passed away following a stroke. He was 72 years old.
