Vocalist/guitarist Edward Anderson and drummer Brian Goff, natives of Bloomington, IL, formed Brother Jed when they were students at Illinois State University in 1995. Keyboardist Steve Guyer was added to the band's lineup a year later, followed by the addition of bassist Joe Kennedy in 1997. Together, the quartet recorded two self-released efforts, 1996's Brother Jed and 1997's Plush Velvet City.
