Bill Haley & His Comets were an American rock and roll band formed in 1947 and active until Bill Haley’s death in 1981. The group was also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets. Between late 1954 and late 1956, they recorded nine singles that reached the top 20 on the charts, including one number-one hit and three additional top-ten singles. Their 1954 recording "Rock Around the Clock" became one of the best-selling rock singles in history and remained highly influential for several years.
