Besmaya is a Spanish indie-pop duo founded in February 2020 by friends Javier "Javi" Echávarri and Javier "Javi" Ojanguren. Both are from Santander, Spain, and have known each other since childhood. The group's name, "Besmaya," is derived from a military base in Iraq where Ojanguren's mother was once stationed.
